I've been out of hardcore for years, and I'm not sure what bands are still active or who's new to the scene. In the mid 00s melodic hardcore dominated the scene with bands like American Nightmare, Hope Con, Suicide File, Modern Life is War, Have Heart, Verse, The Carrier, Ruiner, etc…Unless an enemy does so much damage that they kill you in one attack, giving you no time to apply them. In hardcore mode, stimpaks no longer give you an instant health boost. Instead, they do it over several seconds. This means that you can't survive being mobbed by enemies by simply spamming stims.
