Naked Lady Won't Leave. We had a guest staying with what he said was his wife (it wasn't) in a room for a few days. We never saw this lady and the man said she was ill and kept extending his stay each day, to give her more time to recover. At one point, the man came into the lobby and asked to have his sheets changed.

This is definitely something your management needs to look into. If someone is paying for a suite then they should get a suite. Upgrades are only pending availability, not a guarantee. You want a guaranteed suite you book it and pay for it. It sounds like management did a poor job in training those front desk agents. So I work night audit and if you work nights you know how some nights you just get so bored and would wanna do anything to occupy your time so you don’t sleep. Anyways I love having fun so I decided to make the front desk fun for me and my coworkers by creating a front desk game that they can play (they don’t have to) during their day shift ...A lot of hotels use a "hotel king" for their beds. Standard King is 76" wide by 80" long. The California King Bed is more narrow, but longer (72" wide by 84" long). A "Hotel King" uses the smallest dimensions of both of those - it's the length of a standard king but the width of a California king. I would imagine most people are not familiar ...But I'm a irresponsible parent. For a change of pace, this story if from the front desk of a medical practice. A woman approached my desk today to sign in for her appointment, everything on fairly routine until she realizes she has a copay. "I have been coming here for literal months and have never had a copay, my insurance" blah blah blah. In order to meet your posting guidelines, I'm going to share a story from the land use front desk. 😉 (I'm remembering this from a few years ago, so forgive me for paraphrasing the events.) Shortly before closing (of course), a woman rode up on a bicycle, came into our local government office and got in line with the last-minute crowd. As I'm ...

The Mister Patel Scam. Well kids, your favorite Second House Suites night auditor made a bit of a goof tonight. Thankfully, not a massive one. A good remedy for heat burns is cold water, changed frequently. Since you work in a hotel, grab an ice bucket, about 6 ice cubes and fill it full enough with water to submerge what's hurt. Change the water every 15 minutes for an hour. Thankfully, it's not too bad. You didn't understand the scam. The fake website took their info and card, charged them an exorbitant amount, then made a pre-paid reservation through Excelsior with the scammed person's info and their own card. It only worked because there was a real reservation made. So, no, you're not pulling any fast ones.People recording customer service people as soon as they don't get their own way has to be one of the worst things about social media. I was surprised because I said nobody was in that room and he said "oh yeah I booked online and came in and grabbed a key". "I'm a travel agent and just assumed you could check in on line". I just stood there trying to comprehend the absolute stupidity of this guy. He thought it was an online check in.

I seriously hate this industry. Where do I even begin. I work full time at the front desk at a certain M brand hotel out of convenience. I live a block away from the hotel I work at, so I save a lot of gas money avoiding having a job I have to drive to, plus I can leave 5 minutes before my shift and clock in still with time to spare. It's becoming more common for hotels to replace vending machines with snack shops run by the front desk staff. Clearly we just take credit cards to hold a room for the fun of it. Say it with me now... It might be worth suggesting to management that they implement a policy where, if a guest makes claims in an effort to get a refund and those claims turn out to be false, the guest should be charged for 1 night room and tax. It's becoming more common for hotels to replace vending machines with snack shops run by the front desk staff. A few years ago, in my last job, I worked as the night auditor in a fairly upscale hotel in the college town of Lawrence, KS, in which I covered the front desk and was basically the only hotel employee on duty from 11 at night until 7 in the morning. I have quite a few good stories from those night, so here are a couple to start out with.

Never thought people actually tried to get free rooms. Working a 7-3 shift, my day was already going horrible due my horrible co worker screaming at me in front of a lobby of people eating, because I changed the tv channel to the news, which is policy to have on in the morning , and he felt "triggered" by the news, yeah ok fuck off dude ...As "checking in" is the universal hotel term for the process in which the front desk actual checks you into the hotel, and gives you keys.
