This requires the guide rod to protrude at the muzzle by about 3/16" or the difference between flat up and flat forward. Upon putting the slide back on the take down lever will not go back to the horizontal position. And the slide would not come off. I removed the back plate and took out the striker assembly, and striker safety and spring. The slide then could come off freely.
