I kept a base alive from a Frost Giant purge using just two t4 Exile faction fighters in epic pictish warchief armor + ancient maces, and a Dalninisia fresh off the wheel wearing coarse cloths and a star metal sword. Personally, I find the thralls to be the best thing there. Find a camp with sorcerers you can farm nearby a caravan and get to cracking skulls. There's I think 4 combat thralls and 6 workers (one is a male dancer) you can get, and they're all T4, including the fabled Dalinsia Snowhunter. I could get to the accursed shrine on just a few minutes and one time three berserkers spawned. I was set after that. Accursed berserker for sure!
